Excellent for couples, young families and people who want to bring their well-behaved dogs on holiday with them, these three little cottages have been converted from the outbuildings of a former mule farm. Each gite has a double bedroom, an open-plan living area with kitchen, table and chairs for 4, a double sofa bed, French TV and a CD/Radio, and a shower room. Bedlinen, bath towels, t-towels and a hairdryer are also supplied. A travel cot and high chair for a baby can be supplied on request.

The old stables (Les Ecuries) are two ground floor cottages with the original openings turned into either doors or widows. Ceiling beams, tiled floors and exposed stone walls ensure great character. Electric heating for the colder months and fans for the summer months are included.

La P’tite Boulangerie, opposite Les Ecuries across the enclosed, grassed courtyard, is a delightful two-storey cottage, renovated in 2007, with wooden floors, old beams and the original bread oven in a corner of the living area. In addition, this cottage has a separate freezer and electric filter coffee maker in the kitchen and the double sofa-bed and two rocking chairs in the living area. A DVD player and woodburning stove are also provided.

The courtyard is enclosed and has outdoor furniture for each gite for al fresco eating. There is a hangar with ping-pong table, electronic dart board, boules and some board games.

At the end of the Ecuries you will find the laundry room with automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board, as well as storage for the sun-lounger cushions.

Behind the Ecuries is the swimming pool in its own sunny, fenced garden. The 10m x 5m pool has a patio nearby with garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue. There is a movable gazebo to give shade on the hottest days.

La Charronniere is 2 miles from the market town of Chaunay which has two boulangeries, a small supermarket, a hotel/restaurant, a bar, a hairdresser, pharmacy, flower shop and brocante (bic-a-brac shop). Market day is Monday morning.

Futuroscope, La Vallee des Singes, Les Geants du Ciel, L’Isle aux Serpents, La Ferme aux Autruches, Poitiers, Cognac, La Rochelle, Angouleme, swimming, fishing, golf, riding - there are so many things to do and places to visit that you will be spoiled for choice! One week is not enough time to make the most of this wonderful area of France.
