Beautifully decorated throughout, this is a spacious French cottage within walking distance of the historic town centre and the River Charente. We have welcomed guests since 2018 and many return year after year, we are proud of our 5* reviews across booking portals.  The house is fully equipped for all-year-round stays, with a cosy log burner and 'eco' heat pump for winter, air-conditioning for summer.  The house boasts a private  garden,  garden-furniture and BBQ where you can just relax away from the stresses of every day life.  A five minute walk brings you to the heart of Civray with its bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boulangeries, shops and a small cinema (showing films both in French and English).  A leisure centre in the town has  two heated swimming pools, a sauna and gym. Alternatively, you can stroll along the River Charente that flows through the town and the town park.  In spring and summer, the park hosts music festivals and antiques fairs/brocantes.There is much to see locally, such as the 'Vallée des Singes' where you can stroll among monkeys that roam free, the Géants du Ciel raptor display in Chauvigny, kayaking on the river Charente and local bike hire.  The nearby university city of Poitiers has a wonderful café culture and everything you would expect to see in a city.  A trip to Verteuil-sur-Charente with its quaint art shops and restaurants is a 'must-do', or you can catch the fast TGV train from Poitiers to arrive in Paris in just 1 hour 20 minutes,  for lunch in fact!Civray is just 4 1/2 hours by car from Channel ports, or you can travel by train to Poiters and pick up a hire car at many of the local companies.  Flights come into nearby Poitiers (45 minutes), Limoges, Bordeaux and La Rochelle.  Or fly into Charles de Gaulle, Paris and take the direct train into Poitiers.The house is located on a small hill on a no-through road, a 5 minute walk from the river and town centre.
